Our first CapeFear7 in 2008. With no paint and just out of the mold our first car next to the next donor car Miata.
We have autocross this car for two years to see what improvements were needed. Since this car was planned as a demonstrator and daily driver it is built with heavier fiberglass part than we use in our standard kit. It weighs in at 1688 lbs. Living in the south we added air conditioning.
In late 2010 with some spring and shock tweaks the car was licensed and painted with the company Cape Fear Blue color.
Now the CF7m is Street Legal
After working with the NC DMV for three months we have cleared up the last few problems with licensing kit/custom cars. DMV was helpful during the process, and now licensing is much easier.
Weather proof, for a British replica.
Now we have a top and doors that work quite well. Drove 210 miles home from autocross ZMax in Concord NC in the rain and small weeps at the top of the door where the Velcro attaches to the top. But for 3 hours in heavy rain I’m thrilled how well everything worked, better than my Austin Healy 3000MKII
